Śukra as the Lord of Jala Tattva
Venus is the significator of desire and rules love, affection, marriage, and romantic relationships. He in fact governs all relationships and not just romantic relationships.
People who share the same rāśi in which Śukra is placed (or have Śukra in trines to each other) will share a harmonious relationship. For example, I have Śukra in Karka so if I work in an office and my colleagues have Śukra in Karka, or if I work in a project team where my teammates have Śukra in Karka (or in trines to it), it will result in a harmonious environment. That means me and my staff look upon inter-personal interactions in the same way.
Of course, Śukra rules so many other things, but today I will explore just the love, marriage, romance, relationship aspect of Śukra.
Venus is the primary ruler of jala tattva. The primordial water element and by being the primary ruler of jala tattva he governs the tithis and pakṣas, the periods of waxing and waning of the Moon. One pakṣa consists of 15 tithis and this maps into 180° which is half of a circle. From lagna to 7th house is 180° which equals to 15 tithis. This precisely maps into the 7th house, and the 7th house is the dvāra or ‘the door’ through which we communicate with the whole world, with our family, friends, with our business partners, and the most significant person with whom we communicate, is our spouse or the significant other. The seventh house of the Kālapuruṣa is Tulā and it is lorded by Venus, and Tulā itself is a sign denoting partnership.
Jala tattva causes Śukra to be the significator of relationships as jala or ‘water’ rules emotions and affections. Tithi is a very important element when we are analyzing relationships and the lord of the tithi plays a significant role to see how much of the water element is there in our horoscope.
We are all plagued with afflictions to Śukra, and these afflictions to Śukra are nothing but afflictions to jala tattva. This is the fundamentals in Jyotiṣa – if a graha is afflicted that means it is a tattva affliction. So, whenever there is an affliction to Śukra it means there is a blemish in jala tattva – the jala tattva is damaged, is muddied, dirty; the jala tattva has dried up. If the jala tattva is not full and free and flowing, we are not going to have relationships flowing in our lives.
For example, when I say, “Oh, I am having a bad Śani gochara”, or “I am having Sāḍe Sāti”, or “I am having Kaṇṭaka Śani”, it means that at that point my Vāyu tattva is afflicted. Then I need to worship the lord of Vāyu tattva, Rudra. Hence, the standard remedy during Sāḍe Sāti and Kaṇṭaka Śani – is to listen to Śrī Rudram and chant om namaḥ śivāya.
Similarly, when Śukra is afflicted, it means that there is a Jala tattva affliction. So, not only shall we do remedies, not only shall we do mantras, but we must ensure that the water, the Jala tattva is very well maintained in a house. I often advise people who are doing Kamalātmikā Sādhanā to take crystal balls of water and put petals in them and offer it, but that water needs to be changed every day. If that water is not changed every day, or if your water filter at home is not clean, if the water that is coming out is not clean, or if your swimming pool is not cleaned, if too much of leaves have fallen in it, too much moss has accumulated then that is afflicted Jala tattva. Be very aware of water affliction, because water afflictions can also indicate health issues, since Jala tattva is also ruled by Chandra.
Chandra – Śukra Samvāda[1]
Afflictions to Śukra are manifold. Venus can lose its watery-ness when combusted by the Sun, making him lose out on romance and sacrifice his relationship for the society. Venus can be destroyed by Ketu, and become śunya. It can become cold by a Saturnine contact, or cross the limits by an association with Rahu, or, beaten out of shape by Mars. But, even if unafflicted, does the mind allow you to seek romance and a relationship? Does the mind live for love, or does it reject it?
We will examine the placement of Venus from Moon, to see whether the mind rejects or embraces love and relationships.
Kendra – high tides of strong desire
Dusthāna – solitary lives
Upacaya – vṛddhi and upadeśa
Koṇa – desire for jñāna
A most common affliction occurs when Śukra is combusted by the Sun, or Śukra is astāṅgata, meaning its water gets evaporated with the heat of the Sun. Any graha that is astāṅgata gives us tremendous suffering and I see people neglecting astāṅgata planets so please do not do that; see the houses they lord, at least one of them would be the source of suffering.
When Venus is combust, it means Venus has become very close to the Sun, so the heat of the Sun is too much, the agni is too much, and the water of the Venus has got heated and evaporated as a steam, so there is no more water left in Venus. The whole kārakatva of Venus, the jala, which is necessary for emotion, for affection of emotional bonds is destroyed.
When the water gets evaporated then a couple often must sacrifice their relationship. They do not want to run away and get married, they would rather sacrifice and listen to what the society is saying, or parents are saying. This is more common of course in the oriental world and not so much in the western world because here elders, the society, the friends, relatives have some sort of a hold in saying whether you can or cannot pursue a relationship. Sometimes societal pressure including parental pressure becomes strong then often the relationship breaks, but sometimes they go against, and they run away, and they get married. So, if Śukra is combust and the Sun is stronger, then a person would tend to make a sacrifice in favour of the society’s decision, for the family’s decision rather than saying, “No, I shall die for my love and my love comes first and I am going to run away with my loved one, I am going to go against social diktats.” A Romeo & Juliet kind of situation does not happen here when there is combustion.
When Sūrya is stronger, then you think more about society; when Śukra is stronger, then you will be thinking more about your personal needs, because Sūrya is sarvātmā, Śukra tends to be selfish and will think more about his own needs first.
We often say that when the water gets evaporated it looks like a barbecued planet, if the kārakatvas have disappeared then these people are not very romantic. It is not that they are not intrinsically romantic, but romance would be put into the back burner because duty, work, society – all these things will be prevalent.
Secondly, Venus can get destroyed by Ketu, and we hear this from Maharṣi Jaimini. He tells us that the rajas graha can be destroyed completely by Ketu. Ketu basically is a widow; she was married to the lagna. Ketu is śūnya or ‘zero’, so whoever marries Ketu itself becomes zero. Ketu is not only the widow, but Ketu is the yogi, the ascetic, so Ketu does not want you to get married. Ketu does not like Śukra and destroys it. Ketu does not want you to get married, the only time he may push forward some marriage is if he wants the lineage to continue, because Ketu is concerned about lineage. Otherwise, Ketu basically does not like romance, does not like you to go on a honeymoon, does not like you to have nice stable saṁsāra; he does not want all those things. He does not want you to also have a stable home, he wants you to be like a ragamuffin hopping month-to-month from place to place, not much interested in Venus like things, no śṛṅgāra[2]. Ketu can destroy Venus; Sadhu yoga is coming. So, it is beautiful if you are a sadhu, if you are an ascetic in case of such combination – Venus with Ketu or Venus is in the eighth house, because natural eighth house is ruled by Ketu. So, 2-8 axis where Śukra is or Śukra’s conjunction with Ketu, Sukra in Ketu’s sign – these things are very problematic where Venus can completely disappear and it creates problems in marriages, in relationships.
That can be Kalatra Śapa[3] or a curse of Venus, as Maharṣi Parāśara teaches us, when at least two or more natural malefic grahas have graha drsti on Śukra, specially, Śani, Mangal, Rāhu, Ketu. That curse is very strong if the 8th lord is involved. That curse is very strong if the Ātmakāraka is involved, which means it is dṛḍha[4]-karma from past life curse, much more suffering. If it is also there in Navāṁśa, it is strong; if it is in the D-30 it is even stronger.
If there is a Saturn influence in this Kalatra Śapa then there is a lot of coldness, sexual coldness, emotional coldness, rejections that relationship. If Venus is with Rāhu, which is the worst association, that Venus is a very problematic Venus, it is a dirtied Venus, that Venus shall cross limits or will be forced to cross limits. Maybe it means marrying somebody belonging to different religion or different community, or it usually signifies that you are stepping out, you are involved with someone who already has married or has a partner, or you yourself are married or have a partner and you are involved with somebody else. This is transversion that Rāhu does with Venus. And if that Venus is with Mars, then there can be issues about rape; Venus -Mars is a rape combination there can be violence. And even if rape does not happen it is very-very passioned nature, that happens over there.
It does not mean that when Venus and Saturn is just together, or Venus and Rāhu is just together, or Venus and Mars is just together, these things will happen in a very strong way, but at least the combination or graha dṛṣṭi of two of these malefics will cast the curse. So, Śukra afflicted by at least two of these three malefics will give you sorrow, shock and anger.
There are much more different ways of afflictions to Śukra – pāpa kartari, tithi doṣa, 7th house has papa kartari, Venus is blocked in Graha Malika yoga sequence, Śukra in MKS etc., we are not getting into all those things; we are going to focus on one thing – what if my Venus is unafflicted, yet I am not interested romance and love? Maybe some of you are looking at a chart and say, “My Venus is kind of okay, but I am really not into it. I am married, I got married early, I have a stable relationship, but my husband or wife is the one who’s more romantic, more into the relationship. I am kind of detached.”
So, the mind has to allow you to be seeking a relationship. The mind needs to seek a relationship; mind needs to want to be in a couplehood, want to be coupled, want to be loved. Some people think the definition of Svarga, or heaven is to have relationship or is in the arms of a woman. Some people find happiness in love; some people only find happiness in the arms of a woman or man, then it is a completely physical thing.
What is the mind looking for? Venus is the seat of desire, and we are going to see the desire from the Moon, because the desire is rooted in the mind. And hence Venus’s placement from Chandra will tell us that eventually what is the mind looking for. Sometimes the mind will reject relationship totally, though because of that rejection thing some people have no problem, they are married, but they will always look upon their spouse as an enemy. So, the mind is rejecting, and nobody knows why this is happening.
We are going to not look into the afflictions today, I am going to do a very simple exercise, and this exercise is to see where the placement of Venus is from Moon. Basically, the kendra placement of Venus is supposed to be very excellent, because the kendra from the Moon are the tides; the first and seventh house is the strongest, because it is high tide. The fourth and tenth house is lesser because it is low tide, but the kendras are very strong. When the tide is high the water is flowing, the desire is very-very strong. So Śukra placed in kendra from Chandra is very powerful kind of a thing.
Dusthāna placement, the 6th, 8th, and 12th house placements are problematic, they would live solitary lives; they may reject relationships, or the relationships may reject them. Those relationships are not going anywhere. Venus is in 12th house from the Moon – total rejection, such people can even be married but they are really rejecting relationship and romance.
When upacaya houses (3rd, 10th, 11th) are concerned, we are talking about vṛddhi[5] and upadeśa[6]. For example, 3rd house from Chandra – the guru upadeśa becomes very important factor. So, they are seeking a mentorship; they are seeking upadeśa; they are seeking a partner, a mentor, like a teacher, who will guide them. The 11th house from Chandra is called Chandra vṛddhi, so natural benefic placed in the 11th house from Chandra can give you immense material benefit. If Śukra is in the 11th house from Chandra then it should give us huge amount of material benefits, but look at the other layer – how is mind seeing Śukra in terms of relationship and love? Not good, because 11th house is the Hara bhava.
And the koṇa placements from the Moon are not bad but yet it is not very good. Only the kendra from the Moon are supposed to be very good, the water flows are over there. What the koṇa placement from Chandra signify? You will see that such people are seeking jñāna.
I have accumulated a whole bunch of charts, and we are going to go through them, but remember that you have to study the other factors, you have to study all these things like tithi, 7th house, 7th lord, you have to see is there Pravrājya yoga, Vairāgya yoga or Brahmacārya yoga, because sometimes these yogas are so strong, that they can override a lot of things.
Venus in Kendra from Moon
First, I am going to look at horoscopes where Venus is in the kendra from the Moon and another bunch which are with Venus in the koṇa from the Moon because they are the main significant ones, and I am going to add another layer to this analysis.
Venus is in 4th from the Moon – Marilyn Monroe

This is the chart of the famous screen goddess and the sex symbol of the 50s and 60s, the ‘blonde bombshell’, the very beautiful Marilyn Monroe who was married three times. She is Karka lagna with the Moon in the 7th house which itself is a very strong jala thing, and from Chandra lagna Śukra is placed in the 4th house which is a kendra placement.
We are going to now take it to the next level and we say that the 7th house from Venus is the strongest seat of desire. Parāśara has taught us how we must see that particular house of which the graha is kāraka – that many houses you must see from the graha, like 3rd from Mars to see really about brothers, 4th from Moon to see really about mother, 9th from Surya to really see about father. And similarly, 7th from Śukra to really see about spouses and relationship, it is where the root of all desires, and I will see that point from Chandra.
Here is the Chandra Lagna in Makara rāśi, and Śukra is placed in the 4th from Chandra, but I will see the 7th from Śukra which is Tula, and I will see where Tula is from Makara. So, we are actually seeing as if Śukra is in the 10th from the Moon, very beautiful Venus in its own sign; that is a very good yoga – 10th from the Moon is fantastic for work and it gives you Amala yoga[7] and that kind of thing.
If Sukra is as in 10th from Moon these people in their mind, they consider relationship and love to be Svarga, for them it is Svarga.
She was of course the top actor, and I was just watching a very recently published documentary on her; she was really into the whole casting couch thing since a tender age, so she had relationships. I have not gotten to names over here for avoiding all this detailing, but she has got into relationship right from her first producer. To almost the entire lot of producers, directors, agents, everybody – she had relationships across at that time. When she blossomed in the 50s probably women had to do that, and that is how she came into the top, that is how she got her assignments.
She also was quoted by many famous men and the most famous is the the President of the United States John F. Kennedy and his brother Robert Kennedy, who was the attorney general. So, she was dating both the attorney general and the President of the United States. She lost her life at a very young age. Relationships – her mind is seeking that, look at the power of that Venus; mind is thinking that – “that is Svarga”. She was splitting from one to the other, one to the other…
You can see that 7th house has also Pāpa kartari from Ketu and Mars.
Venus in the 4th from Moon – Wolfgang Mozart

This horoscope is of the famous composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. They said that Mozart was a very lustful person, and he had many relationships and he died at a very tender age of 30s (just like Marilyn). Debilitated Moon is in Scorpio, in digbala; Venus again is in the 4th house from the Moon, which means Venus is really coming into the 10th house. These people revel in the arms of the opposite sex; they revel in it.
Venus in the 4th from Moon – Mahatma Gandhi

This chart is of Mahatma Gandhi, one of the pioneers of India’s national movement and a very famous political leader. He is Tula lagna, Moon in Karka, he has Mālavya[8] Mahāpuruṣa yoga, though Venus again is afflicted by malefics (conjoins Mars and Pāpa kartari from Saturn and Sun). His Chandra is also very powerful in own sign, 10th lord in the 10th house. And that Śukra is in 10th from Chandra – it means these people revel in the arms of women. You would say that he was an ascetic kind of person, which he was but he wrote this book called “My experiments with truth”, where he said that in order to test his brahmacharya he would sleep in a roomful of naked women, roomful meaning his nieces, you can see them on picture. Recently, one’s of these nieces diaries got published, and there she has written all details about how he would make these girls, two nieces and another one, who is a doctor, he would make them sleep with him, he would fondle them; then he would make one of the doctors take a bath and watch her as she was taking a bath and apply soap on her… Very perverse life, but sexuality is a very different thing, the sexual desire or the desire for love, these are all very different things. You can see that Venus in 10th from Chandra, nobody escapes this.
Venus in the 4th from Moon – Jawaharlal Nehru

This is chart of Jawaharlal Nehru. He was our first prime minister and together with Gandhi they two among many who were in the forefront of a national movement. Gandhi is Tula lagna with Moon in the 10th house, and Nehru is Karka lagna with Śukra in the 4th house. Again, Śukra in Tula in 4th from Chandra – exactly like Gandhi. Jawaharlal Nehru was absolutely a ladies’ man as we call it, and he was absolutely a charmer. Not as such perversion but has lost his wife pretty early to some disease and after that he had a string of relationships including a live-in relationship with Padmaja Naidu. But, probably, his most famous relationship was with lady Edwina Mountbatten and many people say that it was platonic, but they were very close, and Lord Mountbatten overlooked it because he said that that was actually good because it would enable good diplomatic relation with the Indian national movement because Nehru was at the forefront of it.
Again, we see Pāpa kartari on Venus between Mangala and Surya, graha dṛṣṭis from Saturn and Rāhu. Also, there is Kāla Amrita yoga in this chart, total blockage, and Śukra and Chandra are caught in it. So, if you were his astrologer, you should have given him “om gurave namaḥ” to do ten mālās at least, which would have broken this Kāla yoga and rescued Chandra and Sukra; or give him Devī mantra, may be to do Kamalātmikā sadhana by which his Venus would have got purified.
Venus in the 1st from Moon – Osho

This is a chart of Osho Bhagavan Rajneesh. Here we can see Venus and Moon are together, and we can see that there 5 planets in the 7th house – huge number of planets. His Tithi lord Mercury is in the 7th house and is conjoined Moon and Venus out here; it is too much of water, the focus is right over there.
In the Chandra Lagna Chakra, we can see that Sukra is in the 1st house from Chandra. As village rule says the 7th house is the seat of all desires. So, I will mark 7th house from Venus with the cross and will see it from the Moon.
The 7th house from Venus is Mithuna. When 7th house from Venus becomes Mithuna that means from Moon Venus is in the 7th. This is very high tide. I have already mentioned it to you – though the kendras from Chandra are all tidal zones, the tenth-fourth’s intense still is a bit less, but if Venus and Moon are one and seven with each other or together, then that is very powerful.
Osho thing was a very famous because he followed the principle of ājīvika where sex was kind of quite openly endorsed out there in the community that he had.
At around 1980 year this Osho was very strong, he was still in India and had big Aśrama in Puna. So, that was going great guns. See this quotation from Osho, he says, “Sex is just the beginning, not the end”. He advocated free love and incited his devotees to sexual promiscuity. His asrama in Puna became very famous for group orgies and sexual promiscuous behavior. He said, that “when you fulfil, exhaust your sexual desire then only you can progress further into a spiritual life.” And that encouragement for sexual promiscuous behavior was enforced to the point of violence; he would even apply for psychological pressure and psychological manipulation for you to do that.
So, this is a very absolute case, and that is a cursed Śukra, afflicted by malefics, impure Śukra. And whole focus is at 7th house, Tithi lord (who is water-boy) is over there also – too much of Jala. And his Janma naksatra is Pūrva Aṣāḍha which is also Śukra’s naksatra. And the mind (Moon) is in the 7th house and involved in all these dirty water elements.
Venus in the 1st from the Moon – Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

This is another case of Venus in the first house from Moon. This is the chart of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, a screen goddess from India, and she was also the former Miss World. Aishwarya Rai is extremely beautiful but when she stepped into Bollywood that is the Indian film industry, so beautiful, so desirable, she had many relationships.
This timing is according to astro.com and is rated ‘C’ which is not good rating. Here could be lagna issue, I have in use Virgo lagna for her; with Virgo lagna these all Venus-Moon-Rahu come to the 4th house, which I think is more appropriate. I think she does have Śukra in digbala – look at her beauty, look at her career, how she flourished in the film industry, so I think Virgo lagna may be correct. But it does not interfere with our study.
She has born in Ṣaṣṭhī tithi, so her Tithi lord is Śukra and her Janma naksatra lord is also Śukra.
In the Chandra Lagna Chart you can see that Venus is in the first house from the Moon, again this is Dhanu lagna, and 7th house from Śukra is Gemini. And Gemini is the 7th house from Chandra. Again it is effect of high tide.
We can see that Venus is afflicted by dṛṣṭis of Ketu, Saturn and by conjunction with Rahu.
Venus in the 1st from Moon – Salman Khan

Here is another Indian very well-known film actor called Salman Khan. This man is the hot top, and all the beautiful women were his girlfriends, including the previous horoscope – they also had a relationship. He is in his mid-50s, but he is still unmarried, and he is famous for all these huge amount of relationships that he had. You can see Moon, Mars and Venus together, and again we are having Venus in the 7th from Moon.
Interesting – Aishwarya Rai has Venus-Moon-Rahu, so transgression of line, and he has Venus-Moon-Mars – that energy comes over there.
The thing is that in all these charts there are a lot of other combinations also, Venus is afflicted by Mars and Rāhu dṛṣṭi, and Pāpa kartari from Śani and Sūrya. but we are not looking into the other things right now; we are only looking at this basement, and all these people have it.
Venus in the 7th from Moon – Zsa Zsa Gabor

Here is a chart of Zsa Zsa Gabor, married nine times, Hollywood actress, lots of relationships. Here you can see very strong and nice Chandra in Karka rāśi, and Venus is based in 7th from Chandra. If we mark the 7th house from Venus, it is actually as of Venus is with Moon in Karka. The seventh from Venus that is in the first house from Moon, so this is as if Venus and Moon are together. It is also high tide thing.
So, if either Venus and Moon are together or Venus is in 7th house from the Moon by this calculation then that desire is extremely strong. And Zsa Zsa Gabor was married nine times, and she had umpteen number of relationships which are not quoted and talked about. And her Tithi lord also happens to be Moon. So, she got challenged to emotions and the things concerned.
You can see here that 7th lord Jupiter is in the 8th house, which means the breakage of relationships are pretty strong over there. And you can see that Venus is very badly afflicted – it conjoins Sūrya and Maṅgala, has graha dṛṣṭi from Śani and Rāhu.
Venus in 10th from Moon – Jennifer O’Neill

This is another Hollywood model and actress Jennifer O’Neill, again married nine times. Here Śukra is exalted, how lovely, in the 10th from Moon. But actually, it is in the 4th from Moon, so it becomes very strong, it is in digbala – nine marriages.
When Venus is in the 10th house from Moon, we again out a cross in the 7th from Venus, which comes to Virgo, it means the effect as Venus is in the 4th from the Moon. So, also a lot of Jala. She married 9 times, lot of relationships. Her Tithi lord also itself is Chandra. Venus is afflicted by Mars and has a Pāpa kartari from Rāhu and Sun.
You can see – most of these exceptional cases – Venus seems to be afflicted.
Venus in the 10th from Moon – John F. Kennedy

This is another chart with Śukra in the 10th from Chandra, John F. Kennedy, he also had a similar issue.
Venus in Taurus is very powerful. John F. Kennedy was the 35th President of the United States, the youngest President to be elected, kind of icon, dashing and debonair in the 60s and also while he was in politics in the 50s, but he was really not good at all where the 7th house matters are concerned. Śukra afflicted by Sun, in the Pāpa kartari from Mars and Ketu. And you can see there is a Graha Malika yoga starting from Mars and ending Chandra – Moon and Venus are caught in that. His stream of mistresses and girlfriends is very well-known. Many of them have come out and have actually also talked about it.
Venus in Koṇa from Moon
I want to change the tone a little bit and I am now going to koṇa placements; I am going to look at when Venus is based in the koṇa from the Moon. Venus in koṇa position is also good position but it is not like a flow of water. Here it is more like mind is searching for jñāna, even in relationship mind will be searching for jñāna.
You will see five charts of gurus out here who all have Venus in the 5th from Chandra. I told you earlier that the koṇa placements are not so great but let us see the 7th house from Venus because that is the seat of the strongest desire. If Venus is in the 5th from the Moon, then the 7th house from Venus becomes 11th house. And the 11th house from Moon is very good when we are doing it as rājayogas (single benefic planet in 11th is fantastic rājayoga) – they will give a lot of benefits; they give proper vṛddhi, they will fulfil all the life purposes. But when we are talking of Śukra not in terms of rājayoga, profession, fame and things like that, but in terms of love and relationship, that kārakatva of Śukra, then mind is perceiving Śukra as in 11th from it and this becomes a Hara bhava, so mind is doing ‘Hara’ to this love/relationship part and everything is lost.
So, this love and relationship is lost over there, totally lost. You can see – they have been looking for jñāna, they have been looking for knowledge. This Venus in the 5th from Moon is in the chart of Swami Vivekananda; this is in the chart of Śrilā Prabhupada; this is in the chart of Jagadguru Chandrashekhar Saraswati, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Śrī Chaitanya Mahāprabhu. So, that is a very-very interesting thing. All these people are gurus, they are all founded huge spiritual organizations which are still running, so, what is the importance of it? Let us do the charts and talk about it.
Venus in the 5th from Moon – Swami Vivekananda

Chart of Swami Vivekananda has Dhanu lagna, Śukra is in the 2nd house, Moon in the 10th house, there is a Siṁhāsana yoga etc., but from Chandra lagna – Śukra beautifully placed in Karka but in 11th from Chandra.
He was a founder of the Ramakrishna Mission and Math. His guru Ramakrishna Paramahaṁsa hated to found his own mission or math, he was guru, holy man, yogi, but it was Swamiji who actually did it – he went abroad, he collected funds and set it up, bought the land for math, set up the Code of Conducts etc. He become sandha-guru, a leader, he did it to put forwards his Master’s teachings.
But as far as mind is seeing Venus – the mind is seeing the Hara sthana, so Śukra and his kārakatva – relationship – has become Hara.
Venus in the 5th from Moon – AC Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada

Prabhupada was founder of the International Society of Kṛṣṇa consciousness or ISKCON, another very well known organization – centers and temples over the world, just like Ramakrishna Mission. Moon in Taurus, Venus is in 5th from it and is mapping to the 11th house from the Moon.
He was born in Kṛṣṇa Navami; Tithi lord Sun conjoins Ketu. He was a person who was married, who had his family business, he had no intention of taking sanyāsa. But when he got married, he was not attracted to his wife. He himself writes that “she is very good lady, but I do not know why, I just am not interested in her, but I should marry her.” Because of this strong Tithi lord Sun, that is also the 9th lord, conjoined Ketu his mind annoying to him towards brahmacharya. He had a dream, in which his guru was saying that he must take sanyāsa because he needs to go abroad and establish all these centers and temples.
Venus in the 5th from Moon – Jagadguru Chandrashekhar Saraswati

Jagadguru Chandrashekhar Saraswati was known as the Sage of Kanchi, that is why he was called ‘Mahaperiyavar’, which means “the great elder”. Amongst all Shankaracharya he was absolutely the walking encyclopedia, very great man, he was 68th Shankaracharya.
Chandra is шт Scorpio, debilitated. Venus in 5th from Chandra is exalted but becomes debilitated in the 7th from it.
See that Sadhu yoga – Venus in the 8th house with the 7th lord Rahu – absolutely end of marriage. See that axis Saturn-Ketu with Rahu-Venus, very high Tapasvi yoga. And because of this combination in 10th house he is Jagadguru, he is the Shankaracharya. That combination has to be there in the 10th house for him to hold that seat.
They said, he was a “walking Śiva”, exceptionally knowledgeable, exceptionally spiritual. He was a great devotee of Rāma.
Venus in 5th from Moon – Maharishi Mahesh Yogi

Maharṣi Mahesh Yogi has Makara lagna. Venus is afflicted by Sun, Rahu and Ketu, but you can see that Śukra is in the 5th from Chandra, so again it comes to the 11th.
Maharṣi Mahesh Yogi was famous for establishing entire TM (Transcendental Meditation) Movement, he had centers globally, all over the world, and the centers are still there. It was very famous at the 70s, but it still flourishes.
Śrī Śrī Ravishankar was also a part of this, and he was a śiṣya of Maharṣi Mahesh Yogi and later on he made a separate “Art of Living” organization.
Venus in 5th from Moon – Śrī Chaitanya Mahāprabhu

This is a horoscope of Śrī Chaitanya Mahāprabhu, again you can see Śukra is in the 5th from Chandra. He was the founder of Gauḍīya-Vaishnavism. All the ISKCON and so many other centers of Vaishnavism – he was a father of Gauḍīya-Vaishnavism. There was Vaishnavism before him throughout India – Vrindavan and Dwarka and many other places, but he established Gauḍīya, it is that Vaishnavism which pertains to region of Gauḍīya, and Gauḍa-deśa means Bengal. And I am from there, by the way, my father was Gauḍīya-Vaishnava.
So, he established that, and he gave the world the Hari-Kṛṣṇa Mahāmantra. That was the root – he created that, and he gave that, and he said that in Kali Yuga all you have to do Nāma-mantra japa.
Hare Rāma Hare Rāma Rāma Rāma Hare Hare
Hare Kṛṣṇa Hare Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa Hare Hare
You see, the Mahāmantra is basically the Nāma-mantra, there is no bīja etc. in it. And of course, he introduced the whole world of kīrtana, of ecstatic bhakti.
Chaitanya was complete disbeliever, he believed in Śāstras, his father was a Pandit. And he started studying all the Śāstras and he was so brilliant that at age of early 20s he became a famous pandit. He was a top naiyāyika (knowing the Nyāya philosophy), top grammarian. He was a great debater on Nyāya, on Sanskrit Grammar, nobody could beat him, even the topmost Pandit of the region.
But then he had sequence of rather unhappy incidents, first wife died from a snake bite, and a lot of unhappy things happened with him. He went to Vrindavan and he got the dīkṣā and the Gopala Kṛṣṇa mantra. And he totally changed, he believed a God through bhakti, and he took Kṛṣṇa bhakti to such level, he introduced the concept of kīrtana, that singing hymns and bhajans and praise to Lord through dance and playing instruments.
So we saw five Sandha-Gurus and now let us see some dusthana placement of Moon.
Venus in Dusthana from Moon
We can see the dusthana effects also when Śukra is in the 2nd from Chandra, since when Śukra is in 2nd from Chandra then in effect it becomes 8th from Chandra – Sadhu yoga. When Śukra is in 8th from Lagna or from Chandra, the mind is seeing Śukra as a sadhu, people have a problem getting married.
Venus in the 2nd from Moon – Śrī Ramakrishna Paramahaṁsa

This is a chart of Śrī Ramakrishna Paramahaṁsa whose famous saying was “I will not touch kāminī and kāñcana”, meaning ‘women’ and ‘money’. “These are two things I shall not touch.” Such a sadhu! So, 8th house Śukra – a sadhu Śukra. The 2nd-8th house, even from lagna. When we see Śukra in the 8th house we say, “a sadhu Śukra”. And his Śukra is exalted.
He was not establisher of a Math or a mission, he never had ambition like to start a math with his name, he was a yogi, a holy man and mystic, he was a ‘mad priest’ of Dakshineshwar. His devotees considered him as avatāra. He was a sādhaka. From childhood he was always going to samadhi, all the time.
His mother worried that he got a bit mad of his spirituality and quickly got a little girl called Sarada and married him off, but he was not interested in Sarada, Sarada lived in village. When Sarada came of age she went to Dakshineshwar and she also led a spiritual life staying in different building. On one day he started worship Sarada as Ṣoḍaśī, that is the Tripura Mahavidya.
He was initiated from Bhairavī Brahmani, he was initiated from Vaishnava Parampara of Vrindavan, he was initiated from Totapuri Maharaj, which is the advaita line, and Totapuri was associated with Sringeri Math, whose residing Śakti is Tripura or Ṣoḍaśī. That is why he worshiped Sarada as Ṣoḍaśī.
Venus in the 2nd from Moon – Śrī Śrī Ravi Shankara

We also find this combination in the horoscope of Śrī Śrī Ravi Shankar. And in this case Śukra in 2nd from exalted Chandra, in reality, is falling into the 8th house, total sadhu Śukra, total brahmacharya.
After Maharṣi Mahesh Yogi death he separated from TM Movement and started Art of Living Foundation, he was a Yoga guru also and very deep in meditation. He advocated brahmacharya, people who stay with him they are all brahmacārya over there and they are all wearing white. Again mapping to 8th house Śukra.
Dusthana Śukra is high yogis.
Venus in the 6th from Moon – Satya Sai Baba

Then you can see placements of Venus being in the 6th house from the Moon. When Venus is in the 6th house from Moon then in reality it is coming to the 12th house from Moon, high point of desire is in 12th from Moon. Here you can see it in the chart of Satya Sai Baba – rejecting Venus.
Venus in the 6th from Moon – Ramana Maharishi

And it is also in the chart of Ramana Maharishi. Moon is again in the 6th from Moon.
So, you can see, if Venus in the 6th from the Moon, 7th from Venus becomes 12th house from Moon – total rejection of romance, absolutely, really they like to reject, they do not like women at all.
I did not show you the other things, but I wanted to show you that there were so many horoscopes which kind of fits into it. So, all the sadhus, they either have Venus in the 5th from Moon, or in the 2nd from the Moon or 6th from Moon – maps into 11th house or maps into 8th house or maps into 12th house. So, this just shows how the mind is perceiving Śukra. You can say, “Oh, in Śrī Ramakrishna’s case Śukra is exalted!” Well, Śukra exalted does not mean anything over here because it maps into the 8th house from Chandra, so the mind is totally rejecting that Venus and completely. So, how is the mind treating Venus – does the mind rejecting or does the mind feel that it is only happy and blissful? Is the heaven in the arms of another man or a woman, is it a total sukha to be in love and to have a home and happiness with a woman or do they just reject it, they do not like to bear, to touch a woman, the mind does not want to have anything to do with a woman?
So, I give you with these brief pointers to think more on it. Actually, it is a very deep topic.
